Amanda Dupont, M.A., C.Psych

I have over 20 years of experience working with a varied clientele. I completed my Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology at McGill University, with a double minor in behavioural science and sociology.  I then completed my Master of Arts in counselling psychology also at McGill University. My counselling career began while I was working in a shelter for abused women and children, where I provided individual counselling and ran group sessions to help empower women and build coping skills. I later worked as a school psychologist (elementary and secondary) and provided counselling and assessment, as well as working with teachers and parents to determine successful intervention plans. During this time, I also had a private practice that focussed on trauma therapy for youths and adults. Following a move from Quebec to Ontario, I established a private practice and now focus on individual therapy and assessment. My primary focus is trauma and anxiety, and I regularly work with depression, relationship issues, self-esteem, OCD, grief, life transitions, and attachment. I have years of experience working with first responders, childhood trauma, and sexual assault. I always want to provide a caring and non-judgmental environment for people to explore any issues or concerns they are experiencing. I will help to shine a light on any behaviours and ways of thinking that might be impeding a person's ability to engage in a fulfilling life. The therapeutic approaches I use are all evidence based and include: Acceptance and Commitment therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and mindfulness. I provide psychoeducational assessments for children and adults and adult ADHD assessments. I make sure to to explore different potential contributing factors so that a true profile is represented.
